LATEST MATTER FOR PRACTICE

Many years ago, July 1, 1981, in Singapore, Sim Wong Hoo founded Creative Labs. Since then, Creative Labs has had a very successful history. Specializing in Sound Cards, devices that sends sound from your computer to speakers and allows audio input, Creative Labs has created a very good reputation, with the best sound cards on the market, and universal compatibility. It took 3 years, but finally Sim Wong Hoo released the first Creative Labs product, a computer that talks in English and Chinese. In 1986, a new multimedia PC was made with the incredible development time of six months. In 1988, the business creates a US division, to increase their market, and of course, the money. In 1989, Creative Labs released the first in a continuing line of sound cards, the Sound Blaster series. In 1991, Sound Blaster Pro has become very popular, and now utilizes stereo sound and has become the sound card standard. Later that year Creative Labs releases a CDROM drive that works and is designed for their sound card. In 1992, Creative Labs released their most famous product, Sound Blaster 16. Many other important things happened in 1992 Wave Blaster and Video Blaster were released, and they started to offer shares on the NASDAQ stock exchange and is currently trading for about $12 a share. In 1993 they acquire 2 companies, one that focuses on video conferencing and the other becomes their European Headquarters. They also open their first technical support center in the US. A new program was added to Sound Blaster 16, a voice recognition program that can execute commands in Microsoft Windows. The new generation of sound cards is released. In 1994, the Sound Blaster Awe32 is released and special audio editing software is made. Creative also decided to release a TVOutput card. Their other accomplishments are Labs finally enters the CDR, or CD Recordable, industry, which hasnt become widely known of until CDRW, or CD Rewriteable, and DVDRAM are released. They also bought out a modem company. In 1995 many new products release dates are set. They were one of the first companies to create a video accelerator card making 3d games run faster. They also planned Video Conferencing and telephone software. In 1995, they focused on improving older products such as make a more economical CDR, or making the Sound Blaster Awe64. With new versions of software such as DirectX, Creative Labs had to make new video cards to make their products for a changing market. Other changes such as switching from ISA to PCI interfaces have changed the performance and the price of their products. Once again, in 1995, Creative Labs has made a lot of progress. A new headquarters was opened in Singapore. Sound Blaster 32 became compatible with the Advanced Micro Devices K5 processor and has become the standard sound card shipped in new NEC computers. But their biggest accomplishment, the first Voodoo 2 card with the 3DFX Voodoo 2 chipset. Their video industry has now become the only one with the best chip. A remote control CDROM drive was released. This year has had a big change from the old 2D graphics and poor 3D graphics their old cards had. With things such as Sound Blaster Live and a webcamera, Creative labs has a great amount of technology in their 1998 year. The Voodoo 2 was finally released in the 8 megabytes and 12megabyte video RAM. During E3, the Electronic Entertainment Exposition, which King Del Selva is going to this year thanks to one of my friends, Creative Labs announced the many companies that will be using their 3D audio in games. Sound Blaster Live, their new 3D sound system. This uses special speakers to project an extremely realistic sounding and actual 3D environment. Sound Blaster Live uses the PCI slot and 256 bit sound to form this environment. Todd Toepfer said that Sound Blaster Live is the best video card and he wiants to get it. PCDVD Encore 5x was released, and their best 2D3Dvideo card, using the Riva TNT chipset with 16 megabytes video RAM. Also in 1998 was the DVDRAM, with potential 5.2gigabyte rewriteable storage. Creative Labs has a lot of products, and they are all some of the best made. With the Sound Blaster Live leading in audio, The Graphics Blaster Riva TNT and 3D Blaster Voodoo 2 leading in Video, Creative Labs is doing great for a small company started in 1981 in Singapore.
